Casino Nanaimo

A fairly laid back, lightly-physically demanding work space on the average day.  Sometimes something unexpected would happen, spicing up the atmosphere of the job.

The supervisors were always respectful, yet to-the-point about tasks that needed to be done; especially urgent ones.

Other than that, there isn't much else to say.  The customers were respectful and enjoyable to be around; the same can be said for the other employees.

The worst place I have ever worked. Needs management restructuring. In other words needs to get rid of existing management and all relatives to go with. There are managers supervising wives,  numerous siblings working and supervising in the same dept. Needless to say conflict of interest. The amount of friends and relatives working in this establishment together is RIDICULOUS. This is how they keep themselves in management and get rid of anyone that shows an interest in advancing that threatens their positions. Run don’t walk! Until management changes the unimaginable turnover rate will continue

I came into the job prepared for full time, worked full time, now am down to 1 shift per week.   Manager is very unapproachable, unprofessional, negative, and condescending towards staff and customers.  Does the opposite of what a manager is expected and required to do.  Not well liked by customers and staff.  Makes job difficult to do.  Arrogant and difficult to work with.  Discusses financial expectations from casino management with serving staff and causes upset with disclosure of said information. Very unreliable employment.  Look elsewhere.

Provide answers and help to patrons in the establishment.
Answering and redirecting trough a PA system, phone calls throughout the day.
Effectively resolved customer issues; provided business solutions to achieve customer needs.
Recruiting and signing up new player’s to our reward program. 
Executing promotions in a smooth and timely manner.
Operating, on a daily basis, different types of computer programs.

In my time at Casino Nanaimo, I've had the pleasure of working with a team that is welcoming, inclusive, and always eager to help new members succeed. My management has been consistently accomodating of my schedule and generally very supportive.

There is a massive problem with hiring and promoting practices. The management team all have close relatives that they actually supervise as well as friends being the ones promoted regardless of management skills

From pre-screen to date, I have enjoyed every bit being associated with Casino Nanaimo. Teams are great & management interjection is also very supportive. You are given the power to explore & then the support whenever & wherever required is provided. 

I worked there for 7 years and learned a lot about a variety of things. I joined and eventually ran the health and safety committee which garnered me quite a few useful tickets and training aswell.

 The culture is horrible  and cliquey.  Everyone is posturing for position and they treat employees like dirt.  You forget what day of the week it is- I think its designed that way on purpose

Hours tend to be evenings usually and the atmosphere is pretty dreary and small compared to most casinos. Clientele can wear on you over time but the staff are decent co workers
